I was attracted to this new type of bread about two months ago. The main reason why I grabbed it is because it's supposed to "keep you feeling full for hours". I thought to myself: Hey! A great diet food!
Before tasting it, I thought the taste would be horrible. The name "Chia Seed" just sounded too "healthy" and exotic. I had half expected myself to be forcing the bread down my throat. But surprising, it's very tasty!
I used to love Bread Talk's bread before I started on my weight loss journey. Since 2008, I think I had never finished an entire piece of those high calories bread from any bakery. Usually I would just take one mouthful or bite and pass to my mum or dad. (:P)
I applaude the effort of Bread Talk for coming up with healthier products for consumers who are more health conscious, like me. Now, I can happily go to Bread Talk, and savor the nice taste of bread again.
Thanks to w, he/she reminded me that one slice of bread should be 60g, and thus one slice should be 152 calories.
Oh man, I am really disappointed with Bread Talk. :(
Actually, to be honest, 2 slices is more than 152 if you weigh the bread! Cause 2 slices of bread would be more than the 60g that they stated.
ReplyDeleteOMG, you are right! So one slice is 60g, and 152 calories la!
ReplyDeleteChia seeds are really healthy and contains a lot of good fats (comparable to nuts calories!). However, when taken in moderation, those good fats are beneficial. Considering that Breadtalk makes it into a bread, the white flour and other ingredients would have further increased the overall calories. Chia seeds on its own, sprinkled onto salads, oatmeal etc are good! :) Everything with good fats, when taken in moderation, like avocados, actually fills us up easily and the calories can be burnt slowly as energy. But when added with sugar etc, it is not so good lor :(
ReplyDeleteBreadtalk and other bakery breads are trickery for us dieters. 1 deli bread can easily contain up to 300+ cal... equivalent to cheeseburger x_x
Dear ~桔子~, thank you for your comments. seems like you lost a lot of weight yourself too. Care to share how you do it?
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI would like to ask whether the calories of fish porridge is the right one or are we referring to different dishes?
The Fish porridge that I am referring to is the one that we usually order at fish soup stall where they add less than a bowl of rice and the fish soup over without the tomato and tofu?
I was wondering whether you might be referring to another one that is fish congee the one that is watery and the one that you dont see the visible rice grains?
But didn't they said that 2 slices is equivalent to 152 calories? Did you really weigh the bread? I would be nice if you could find out the calorie content. Tks!
