111kcal Ang Ku Kueh

Ang Ku Kueh, originally uploaded by Pig-gy.

One Ang Ku Kueh will give you 111kcal. So I guess if you have the urge for something sinful.. The Ang Ku Kueh is not too bad a choice, if you can keep yourself from eating more than one!

Sorry for the lack of posts!

I am extremely busy at work!! But behold. I return now..

LCGOTW: Soon Kway

Soon Kway
88kcal, 72.4g
Less than a dollar, Hawker Centres and all Kuey shops.

This is one of my favourite snack. I would usually eat it on its own, as I feel the sauce will kill the real taste of this local delight. Like Popiah, the main ingredient of Soon Kway is turnip, and I like the texture of turnip! You can imagine how glad I feel to know that it has only 88kcal. :)

Vietnam Food

I went to Vietnam in June. It's such a mesmerizing country! I have fallen in love with this small and bizarre place.

Vietnamese are all so skinny. I think it has got something to do with their diet and way of life.

See, Vietnam men looks so skinny!!!

They eat a lot of GREEN. Everything they eat must be wrapped with some veggie before putting into their mouth.

P1020498.JPG

Anything else in Vietnam is just different versions of pho bo or ga. Beef Noodle soup or Chicken Noodle soup.

Chicken Noodle Soup = 475kcal

So much green in my egg!

Also, their houses grow vertically and since commoners usually can't afford lifts in their humble house, they climb up and down 5 floors daily.

I love Vietnam! Hopefully can visit again this December!

Calories of Common Fast Food - Mcdonalds 1

Everyone loves fast food right? It's the whole American culture thing. We all know how unhealthy fries are, but deeply we just love eating Junk. I remember watching Jamie Olive's Fast Food Nation, and he demonstrate how Chicken nuggets are made by chicken skin, bones, liver, basically other parts of the chicken except for the meat. I was quite turned off for like 1 month, after that I quickly go back to nuggets again. Nuggets are just too tasty!

My favourite!

But, this is a diet blog and I am supposed to give you tips on losing weight. So I am providing some information on the calories count behind common fast food. Hopefully the numbers will scare you off.

(I quit fast food for quite a while. But occasionally 1 or 2 nuggets is still fine IMHO! :P )

All time favourite...

Mcdonalds!

When people ask me how "fat" something is, I always measure food in units of MCD's burger. For example, 1 plate of Hokkien Mee is 2 Filllet Burgers.. etc

21 days to form a habit

Salad

Y
es, I take away carbo from my meals. It might sound hard, but its not that bad once you got used to it. The reason why we feel so resistance towards eating so much green is because we are not used to it. If you can managed to change your mindset and perception of this diet, it will work for you.

Mind you, the first 7 days are the toughest. After 7 days, it will get better. And since our mind takes 21 days to form a habit, you should continue with it for another 14 days. After 21 days, it will be a breeze.

High carbo food are good friends holding hands. A high carbo diet will make you hungry faster, and the more carbo you eat, the more you feel like eating high carbo the next meal. If you eat KFC for lunch, you will feel hungry easily, and you will have craving for other high carbo food like fried rice, Cha Kuey Tiao and so on.. I think this is the reason why some of my friends cannot stop their insane craving for food.

So, drop down that KFC drumlet! Drink some milk! Eat some veggie! Or an apple!
