Mixed vegetable, stir-fried

I am trying to stay vegan for a while.. It's quite hard sticking vegetarian and losing weight at the same time when all the substitute for meat are made of flour, potato and other carbohydrates.

But of course, I shall not despair. Giving up is never what I would do.

So far, Stir-fried mixed vegetable is my best substitute for my daily raw veggie and chicken meat.

I shall try it tomorrow.

Email from an old friend

Today I receive an email from an old friend of mine. We sat next to each other during our secondary school days. Oh, those were the days!

I remember eating so much rice and rich, food high in carbohydrates, in the very pretty canteen of my old school. They have nice fried rice(>500kcal), nice hor fun(>600kcal),, nice burgers(>300kcal),.. Now I know why I gained so much weight during my secondary school days. I also wore one of the largest uniform size.. haha.

ok, this is a very random post.
Just wanna to say that it's really nice to know that some old friends are here in little space reading my blog :)

200 Pounds Beauty

This must be another favorite movie of Big people. When I first watch this movie, I was really like the girl in the show, 200 pounds. I cried while I was watching the girl reveal her secrets in the movie. Of course, things are a little different now, but I still share the same sentiments with the girl in the movie.

Sometimes it just feel that you are no longer the same person anymore.

There is this period of time after I've shed 20kg that I felt very lost. I can no longer find "myself" in the mirror anymore. I don't feel like the person in the mirror. You might think that this is some joyous movement, but the truth is, I feel quite frightened. Like I am suddenly placed in a body that is not mine. I don't even know how to be myself anymore.

I think the ending of this movie, the part that the girl reveals her secrets, and shares her fears, really sums up my feelings.

The Sweet Scent of Rain

Just 2 months more, I will be 26.

As I look at the kids in my class today, their eager faces full of anticipation for the new life ahead of them, it suddenly dawn on me that I will never be able to share the same kind of fondness for things anymore. I feel like a candle burning away as the clock ticks, having the once many paths ahead vanishing one after another. And I am just being pushed forward to whatever that lies ahead of me.

I can't point out what but something has definitely gone amiss. Nothing really interest me any longer. Wherever I go, I feel out of place. Moments of happiness does not linger, and disappointments are prolonged. I should do something, but yet so far, nothing is bad enough for me to start on anything, nothing is good enough for me to love it either. The best way is to keep status quo.

Really, I shouldn't be making any complaints. Cuz I am blessed in a sense that even though Sire Life always makes things difficult, he also never fail to leave me with some form of hope and help. I would like to think that each disaster is actually a blessing in disguise. Things do turn around, and they could be far worse than I ever imagine.

The last time I feel a moment of serene is inside a restaurant tucked along one of the less busy streets in town. Slipping my cup of chamomile, listening to a friend speaks, and observing people on the street. I have already forgotten how I got through this busy term and what happened this morning, but I could still remember the sweet scent of after the rain that afternoon.

乌梅 Sour Plums

乌梅, originally uploaded by hxldbcbb.

I am a die-hard fans for preserved fruits. If having a craving for preserved fruits indicates that you are pregnant, then I must be pregnant since Kindergarten.

Well, the story is, I spent a good part of my childhood living with my Grandma, and thus I pick up my love for many traditional food found in chinese families like sour plums, and mee hoon guai.. etc

Anyway, 100g of 乌梅, a kind of sour plum is around 219kcal. The calories of other plums that taste saltier or less sweet should be around there. (Think + - 50kcal)

The Hunt for Clothes

Shops in Singapore usually carry clothes that are S XS or S pretending to be M.

Hallo? U think everyone is small size? Where is human rights for the bigger ladies???

The other day when I attended a course with a course-mate, she sigh in agreement that all the sizes in Asia are too small. They can only fit Vietnamese as girls. But girls from HK, TW CN just think that they are too fat and are all trying to slim down to Vietnamese size so that they can fit into those clothes. Then shops only import skinny clothes of Vietnamese size again, and the vicious cycle goes on and on.... As a result, L girls like us can only wear clothes from ZARA MANGO.. etc. But come to think about it, who cares anyway right? The clothes from ZARA might be slightly more expensive, but at least they are pretty and tasteful. All the s and xs clothes from Fareast can look so cheapo haaaaaa..

I guess whether you are big or small, finding clothes that is right for you, is not easy. Like what another course-mate said,

"好的衣服是可遇不可求的"
I went looking for clothes online and found a few interesting sites for bigger ladies. So I bought some clothes that look really pretty on screen. They are in M and L, which is the size for me. Keeping my finger crossed. Hope they are as pretty as they looked.

Will post more pics once I get my loot(Which might take 3 hundred years to reach sg cuz I use airmail to save $$)!

Koka Noodles/Hor Fun

I don't know about you, but I always love instant noodles. Everyone been telling me how unhealthy it is, but well, I think I don't really care. Hahaa.

Recently, I found KOKA noodles. At first I was skeptical when I saw on TV that they are low in calories. Don't really believe, cuz the last I check, all noodles are still a scary 350kcal and above.

But...... I didn't check the instant Hor Fun or Rice Noodles.

Guess what? 1 bowl of Laska Rice Noodle from KOKA is only 191kcal!!
OMG!!!

Everyone must try. The taste is so heavenly!

I forgot to take a picture of it today. So I will include it in one of the LCGOTW another time :D

HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!

Ice cream, originally uploaded by pierreantoinerigout.

For this special occasion, you are allowed to indulge in ice-cream! :D

I had my share with Star Star yesterday in a wonderful ice-cream palace. Think that cost me at least 300kcal, but well, the company is great, and it's CHILDREN'S DAY!!! :D

HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!

Calories of Snowskin Mooncakes

1 Mooncake, lotus seed paste, plain, snow skin = 983kcal.

Don't think I will have time to visit Ngee Ann for my "bitesize mooncake" this year. So no mooncake for me this year :(

*PS: The calories I have given about previously are based on mooncakes that weigh from 188-264g.
